The Challenge
When EverBank launched their new brand, they wanted to own the skyline. They secured the top three floors of a 27-story high-rise in downtown Jacksonville, and had a bold request:
Put massive signs on both sides of the building – each over 2,000 square feet.
But that kind of size starts to get complicated.
Signs over 500 sq ft have to meet strict rules, and when you’re 27 stories in the air, there’s a whole new set of challenges. Could the building handle that kind of weight? Would the city even approve it? How do you install something that big, that high?
Strategy & Planning
We flew out to Jacksonville and walked the site ourselves.
From there, we coordinated closely with the city, the building’s engineers, and EverBank’s team to map out the full game plan:
- What materials could withstand wind at that height?
- How do we anchor the sign without damaging the building?
- What size would be big enough to impress, but still legal?
After weeks of back-and-forth, EverBank approved the final design: a towering logo over 17 feet tall – with the “E” measuring in at 17 feet, 4 inches.
How We Built It
These letters weren’t your everyday wall signs. It was one of those jobs where there’s no “how-to guide” – only sign companies with decades of experience and trade secrets could pull it off.
We couldn’t build them the normal way – they’d collapse under their own weight. So we custom-built a framework inside each letter to keep it strong and sturdy, like a lightweight skeleton that supports everything else.
Every piece had to be shaped to fit the building perfectly, with connection points made to lock into place once we were up in the air.
The Install
This was where all the planning paid off.
We brought everything out in sections, using cranes to lift the massive letters into place. Every part had to be aligned and secured with precision, while the team double-checked every bolt, angle, and lighting element.
And the whole time, EverBank’s project lead had one point of contact keeping them in the loop – no radio silence, no guessing games.
The Outcome
EverBank’s new location lit up the Jacksonville skyline.
With signs this bold, the brand became a landmark overnight.
- The letters are visible from across the city.
- The structure is built to last for years, even at 27 stories.
- The bank made a statement no one’s forgetting.
Most sign companies wouldn’t know how to execute a project like this. That’s why Everbank chose us.
